Her mother’s strange habits weren’t the biggest reason behind Gail’s suspicions. It was the way her mother’s attitude would suddenly change each time someone would ask about her family. Alvera was always very strangely, secretive about her parents and relatives, and would always avoid any conversations regarding them.
And thus, Gail never really got to meet or know more about her grandparents, and her mother’s vague answers would only spark her curiosity. Very often, she’d try to coax out some leads about her grandparents from her mother, but Alvera would always end up dodging them.
