Gail was left speechless as she read the letter. Her doubts, her suspicions, her theories that she feared would end up being true, all of them had finally materialized. All her life, she had been living within a web of lies spun by her mother, unaware of a true heritage and identity.
Her grandparents were indeed people of color, and for some bizarre reason, her mother had chosen to hide this from her and her family all along. She was heartbroken and shattered, unable to comprehend why her own mother would lie to her.
