Getting hold of her mother’s birth certificate was perhaps the most difficult part of Gail’s journey, especially since her mother was still alive, and it was only she who could request for the birth certificate.
However, Gail figured out an excellent plan for getting it, while not rousing her mother’s suspicion. She called the office of the State of Louisiana and pretended to be her mother, asking them to reissue another birth certificate for her since she had lost the original one. Her request was approved successfully, and she was close to her goal.
