Today it is completely normal to tell your date you’ll meet them at the mall or at the restaurant, but until a few decades ago, this was considered to be completely rude.
A gentleman was expected to pick up their date at her parents’ home, which meant that he had to meet the parents and get their approval before their night out even began. What’s more, he should come to an agreement with the parents about what time he should bring his date home!
