The whole point of going on a date is getting to know your partner and learning about their likes and dislikes, but apparently, back in the day, there were strict rules about when the talking should be done.
A magazine called Click Photo-Parade told single women in 1938 that there should be no talking on the dance floor. When a man dances, he just wants to dance, and therefore a woman should not try to engage in conversation, especially if she wants to – gasp! – talk about herself.
