We all have that one croaky, old great-aunt that loves to start her every sentence at family dinners with “back in my day…” before going on about some story that ends with how spoilt kids today are.
Well, it is certainly no secret that parenting methods have certainly changed over time. Here are some vintage pictures of old-school parents, who would probably raise some eyebrows today, like this Mom letting her son get dangerously close to a lion, or this Mom helping her son use her as a human ramp.

Just to be clear over here about what exactly is going on in this picture, here is Mom and a daughter enjoying a ride on a chairlift, with just the Mom’s arm protecting her daughter from going over the edge.
These days, we are pretty sure that a seatbelt would be a safety requirement before one of these things are allowed to operate. We can not imagine that a Mom’s arm would be considered to be acceptable protection.
