Years after her passing, Tate remained at the forefront of Polanski’s mind. He claimed that she was so good at packing his clothes that every time he packs his own clothes now, it reminds him of her.
The last book Tate was reading before passing away was ‘Tess of the d’Urbervilles,’ which she suggested to her husband would make a good film. In 1979 Polanski directed ‘Tess’ based on that book, and the dedication in the film’s credits simply says “For Sharon.”
