Although Tate’s parents never thought their daughter would become a superstar, they did have an early insight into her star appeal. They entered Tate into a beauty pageant when she was just six months old.
It was clear to the judges of that pageant that Tate had something special, even at such a young age, because she won. So by six months old, Tate was crowned ‘Miss Tiny Tot of Dallas’ in 1943, showing she had a captivating quality from birth.
