While Tate would eventually find success in Hollywood, her initial lack of self-confidence almost cost her a breakout role. Tate had moved back to the United States in the early 1960s, and she didn’t waste much time in locking down minor roles.
After appearing in ‘Mister Ed’ and ‘The Beverly Hillbillies,’ Tate was looking to take the next step in her career. She auditioned for a role in ‘Petticoat Junction,’ but her agent thought her lack of confidence cost her the part.
