Tate was engaged several years before she met and married Roman Polanski. The actress entered a tumultuous relationship with French actor Philippe Forque in 1963, but it wasn’t destined to last forever.
Tate and Philippe would often argue, perhaps due to living with the pressures of forging careers in the cutthroat industry of Hollywood. While they loved each other deeply, they called off their engagement in 1964, so they could both focus on their professional lives rather than romance.
