Although Tate was seemingly happily married to film director Roman Polanski when she lost her life, she had a love affair with another man many years prior. Tate met Jay Sebring, who was once a sailor but was then working as a hairstylist in Hollywood.
The couple had a brief romance, but when Sebring proposed to Tate, she turned him down. Tate wanted to focus on her career instead of her love life at that time, so she chose to remain single rather than marry Sebring.
