[post_page_title]Layer a cake with some toothpicks and dental floss[/post_page_title]
Want to make a layer cake, but only got one cake pan? No problemo! You can bake one regular cake and cut it in half, horizontally – the task is much simpler than it sounds. Place a few toothpicks around the cake, making sure they’re all sitting at the same height.
“Wrap” a long string of dental floss (unflavored!) around the cake using the row of toothpicks as a guide, cross the ends, and slowly pull each end out. As the floss circle tightens toward the center of the cake, you’re perfectly dividing it into two layers.
