If you crack your eggs on a flat surface rather than on the edge of a bowl, like many people instinctively do, the changes of getting little uneven pieces of eggshell on your eggs are significantly reduced, but in case you still get a pesky shard, this is the easiest way to remove it.
Don’t try to go in with a spoon – you’ll just waste your time and lose your patience. The trick is to simply wet your fingers and do the job by hand.
