Best destinations for a springtime getaway

Summer is the peak time for vacations, for obvious reasons, but sometimes you don’t want to battle with the crowds of tourists. Perhaps you can’t wait that long for a getaway? Whatever the reason, here are some amazing places to visit this spring.

The Maldives

If the Maldives isn’t on your travel bucket list, you’ve clearly not been looking at the right photographs! An absolute paradise, the best time to visit this island cluster in the Indian Ocean is between January and March. You will enjoy temperatures around 80 degrees, calm, clear water, and the most beautiful blue sky. Bliss.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is a beautiful destination for a spring break. The weather is mild during the springtime, and the crowds are much smaller, but there are still plenty of things to see and do. You’ll want to see the typical tourist attractions, such as The Little Mermaid, Tivoli Gardens, and Rosenborg Castle as well as checking out the shopping in Strøget. You can see the city via bike, public transportation, or by just merely walking – although you could always jump on a Segway tour too!

Dubai, UAE

Dubai is one of the classic bucket list destinations, and it’s easy to see why. A fantastic melting pot of different cultures makes this city vibrant and exciting. It’s equally perfect for a solo trip, a family adventure, or a romantic break. Springtime is the ideal time to come; it is not too hot, nor too cold and you can enjoy the beaches and marinas in the sunshine. For example, Al-Khazzan Park is a perfect place for families as it has two fantastic playgrounds and is entirely solar powered.

Tokyo, Japan

Obviously, the first thing people think about when they imagine Tokyo in the spring is the stunning sight of cherry blossoms everywhere. Although that is a big reason to visit in the springtime, there are so many more! If you visit in May, you might be able to catch one of the matsuri (festivals) taking place, featuring a host of wonderful examples of Japanese culture. Springtime is also fantastic for food as bamboo shoots, spring onions, and other mountain vegetables are in season, so the already delicious food gets even better.

Crete, Greece

Spring is the ideal time to dip your toes in the refreshing water of the Mediterranean sea, and the popular island of Crete is the perfect place to do so. Summer here is fantastic for relaxing on the beaches and working on your tan. However, spring is better for those who are more adventurous and want to explore the outdoors, as the temperature is a lot more manageable. For example, if you wanted to hike The Samaria Gorge, or go stand-up paddleboarding in Loutraki Bay, spring is a perfect time to do so!

Galápagos Islands, Ecuador

If you love animals and nature, there are very few places on earth quite as perfect as the Galapagos Islands. Expect to see a whole host of amazing animals, from giant turtles to sea lions, as well as beautiful landscapes and stunning views over crystal-clear waters. Although spring is the start of the rainy season, it’s also mating season, so you may get to see some eggs being laid, and even seal pups being born.

Why wait until the summer months for a well-deserved getaway? Grab your passport and book a trip now.
