There are two types of people in the world: ones who love heights, and ones who don’t. For the latter, this post is probably one of the most terrifying things they could ever read. Hopefully, though, you’re here because you’re seeking an adrenaline rush for your upcoming vacation. If you’re a fan of heights and want to know where you can get your next vertical fix, you should find these tourist attractions pretty pleasing.
Insanity on the Stratosphere Tower (Nevada)
Thrillseekers probably won’t find many attractions that give them as big an adrenaline fix as this ride in Las Vegas. Insanity, which is located at the top of the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas, combines the excitement of a theme park ride with extreme heights. You sit 900 feet in the air as the ride spins you around at intense speed. You’ll probably find yourself pretty weak at the knees once you step off the Insanity, but at least you can say you’ve lived life to the full. Just make sure you hold onto the railing if you’re feeling a little dizzy.
SkyCab (Malaysia)
Gondolas are a reasonably common find in countries that feature a mountainous landscape. They’re a great way of getting from the bottom to the top in a short time, while also giving you a way to see the gorgeous local views. However, gondolas aren’t usually quite as see-through as this. The SkyCabs in Langkawi don’t just have glass doors and windows, but also floors too. You can see the world passing by right beneath your feet as you ascend towards the heavens. The fact that this gondola ride is also named one of the steepest in the world should give plenty of you height lovers something to get excited over.
Edgewalk on the CN Tower (Ontario)
Why enjoy heights from a safe platform when you could dangle precariously over the edge of one? That’s the appeal of the EdgeWalk up on Toronto’s CN Tower, although the attraction is perfectly safe. You just attach yourself to the rafters via a harness then walk around the tower as you hang over 1,100 feet in the air. This is definitely one for the most hardcore of height fans, because you don’t want to be having a panic attack once you’re up there.
The Grand Canyon Skywalk (Arizona)
The Grand Canyon is one of the biggest attractions in North America, if not the world, and it’s something that everyone should have the opportunity to admire in their lifetime. However, we understand why looking down into the canyon can be daunting, especially if you have any form of acrophobia. For those who aren’t afraid of being a few thousand feet (4000) above ground though, the Skywalk in Peach Springs is a great way to experience the landmark. It curves over the edge of the precipice and provides a glass-floored walkway, so you can see all there is to explore without having to fear for your life.
Trolltunga Cliff (Norway)
Sometimes the best attractions are the ones that aren’t man-made. While Trolltunga Cliff in Odda doesn’t provide theme park rides or glass floors, it does have some of the most breathtaking views in the world. It takes some effort to reach the attraction, especially as you have to hike all the way up there, but you’ll be glad you did it. Once you’re there, you can sit on the rock that hangs 2,300 feet in the air and get snap-happy with your camera. Seeing the beautiful snow-capped mountains and stunning, blue lake stretching out before you will have you feeling you’re in paradise. You won’t even realize that you’re so high up.
Heights are something that a lot of people fear, but for those who find them exciting, there’s plenty out there to keep you entertained. With gorgeous views and unique experiences awaiting those who can handle them, your next vacation will probably be more exciting than the last.
