Things you can do with oatmeal

Many of us have a packet of oatmeal lying around the house, but what do we do with the stuff? It might not be long before a bowl of oatmeal every morning becomes a little tiresome. Thankfully, there are plenty of other things you can do with oatmeal to spice it up.

Overnight oats

Ok, so this might be pretty similar to that morning bowl of oatmeal, but hear us out. Crafting a bowl of overnight oats means that we can add in a host of flavors that we might not have time to create in the mornings. Adding in spices, yogurts, fruits, or even chocolate chips can be the perfect way to spice up your morning breakfast without having to put in the extra effort during the early hours.

Smoothies

Some of us love the benefits that come with oatmeal but have grown bored of the flavor. Others want a way to pack out their smoothies to help feel fuller for longer. Look no further. Adding in as little as a quarter of a cup of rolled oats could be all it takes to send your smoothie to the next level. The oatmeal is sure to add a slightly nutty flavor to your smoothie as well as create a thicker drink.

A face mask

Oatmeal can do more than just help us from the inside – it can help our outsides, too. If you want a DIY face mask, then oatmeal might be your answer. All you need to do is create a paste with some water and oatmeal in the blender and leave the mask to sit on your face for 10 minutes. Oatmeal can also be mixed directly into a paste and applied to acne to help sooth any red spots or breakouts that are on the way.

Soothe skin

Getting stung by poison ivy, bitten by insects, or sitting in the sun for too long and getting burned can all be pretty uncomfortable for our skin. Thankfully, we could be about to save a ton of money on all those expensive beauty products thanks to oatmeal. Believe it or not, but many store-bought options already have oatmeal in them. It could be time to cut out the middle person by making your own oatmeal lotion at home instead.

Remove odors

As if oatmeal already couldn’t do enough, it looks as though this wonder food can help to remove any odors, too. All you need to do is place an open container of the stuff in the room that you need to be neutralized and leave it overnight. You should find that the smell is a lot less offensive by the morning. Placing a bowl in the fridge can help to remove those unwanted musks while it can also help if you’ve enjoyed a bonfire and find your house has been filled with smoke by mistake.

Oatmeal – it really is as good as it seems! As well as offering up a host of delicious meals, it turns out there are plenty more things you can do with oatmeal, too.
