[post_page_title]The importance of labels[/post_page_title]
Each student was told to buy a selection of fish of their choice. They would then have to put it into a labeled bag, ensuring that they identified the fish correctly – what they were told it was anyway. Jennifer wanted to highlight the importance of food labels, proving that mislabelling of commercial food does happen, perhaps more often than we think. She found investigating this important because mislabelling can have major consequences if consumed by the wrong person.
For example, if someone is allergic to something, they will need to avoid eating it. But how can we truly trust what the label says? The consequences can potentially be fatal if someone has an allergic reaction, and so Jennifer wanted to highlight how the mislabelling of our food is actually a really common problem.
