Although Jennifer’s study went viral and got people talking, it was not the first study of its kind to find similar results on the fraud happening in the fish industry. In January 2017, a UCLA experiment tested fish served in 26 different LA sushi restaurants.
What they found was that 47% of the fish was mislabelled – this meant nearly half of the fish being consumed was not what the diners thought they were eating.
