According to People, things with Russell moved far too quickly for Meg. As much as she cared about him, she couldn’t just switch off from her husband as soon as he wanted. Crowe was apparently talking about marrying Ryan and having kids with her, something which proved to be overwhelming for the rom-com star.
She was supposedly more interested in a casual fling rather than an intense relationship, and Russell apparently couldn’t grasp that. Perhaps that’s why the two weren’t together for very long before ultimately going their separate ways.
