The talented singer and performer was half of the 70’s sibling duo “The Carpenters” along with her older brother Richard. Her soft singing style and unique voice made her one of the best singers in history of music. Sadly, Carpenter is remembered for more than her incredible vocals. Carpenter has suffered from anorexia since she was a teen until the day she died.
One of her last public appearances was an interview with Joan Lunden on ABC’s Good Morning America in 1981. The clearly ill singer spoke candidly about her life and eating disorder. Two years later, on February 1983, Carpenter passed away of a heart failure. Carpenter was just 32.
