We all love Emma Stone. She is beautiful, funny, and talented. However, she is not one-quarter Hawaiian and one-quarter Chinese. Clearly, when Cameron Crowe cast Emma as Allison Ng in the rom-com Aloha, he decided to gloss over the protagonist’s nationality.
Of course, the media pounced on it as soon as it was released, questioning why they didn’t actually use an actor with the correct nationalities. Official apologies had to be released, and the movie as a whole was a box office disaster.
