When M. Night Shyamalan got his hands on the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, he was already experiencing a dip in his career. He believed that adults didn’t understand the movie, so they wouldn’t enjoy it as much.
However, even the younger viewers who enjoyed the cartoon Legend of Aang were upset. What made the whole thing worse was that he decided to cast predominantly white actors. When Katara and Zuko were revealed to be portrayed by Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz, people just gave up hope.
