It would seem that Hollywood really does have a problem with casting women over the age of 30. In 2015, when the crew of the movie Joy cast Jennifer Lawrence to play the 34-year-old mom, everyone freaked out.
The movie was all about Joy Mangano, who was a mother, TV host, and inventor. In the movie, we saw her in her 30s and even 40s at some points. At the time of filming, Lawrence would have only been about 25 years of age. Most people agreed that she was far too young for the role, and it needed someone with more life experience to portray her.
