There are many phrases that you were taught as a child that were a bit weird. For example, who made up the phrase, “Last one is a rotten egg?” This line is probably one of the most known things to say to children when you want them to hurry up.
We’re not sure where it came from, but when we heard, “last one at the dinner table is a rotten egg,” we would scramble to the table like there’s no tomorrow.
