We… We never thought about Pocahontas this way. The movie’s actually based on a true story – Pocahontas was a real historical figure, whose life included less magical raccoon companions and more depressing exile from her ancestral lands and an early demise while barely into her 20s.

But that doesn’t really make for a fun Disney flick about painting with the colors of the wind, so they wisely tweaked it a bit. Even so, can we all agree that the English settlers are clearly the bad guys? That’s a pretty risky gambit for an American company to make…
