The Youngs chose to name their daughter Eva, literally meaning life. The reason they wanted to give Eva the chance to live was simple: to donate her organs. The baby was healthy in every other way and they felt that she deserved to do something wonderful with her life even though she won’t be able to live it.
Keri posted online that Eva had a perfect heart, perfect feet and hands, perfect kidneys, perfect lungs, and a perfect liver. In a way, she and her husband felt it would be selfish to let their daughter be wasted when she could do so much good. They opted to help save the lives of others even though they couldn’t save Eva’s.
