It turns out Eva is not just the first baby in Oklahoma to donate a full eye, but the first person in general – and she donated two. Not only did she change someone else’s life, but she was the first to do something like this in her home state.
Because of her, there’s now something called the Eva Protocol that hospitals in other states use when dealing with infant organ donations. Connections are also being made in other states to set up future eye transplants.
