Mischa Barton was only 17 when she got cast on The O.C, and even though she had worked in acting since she was nine, being so young and thrust into that type of spotlight took a toll on her. Tate Donovan, the actor who played Marissa’s father, said she was a complete diva on set, and he wasn’t the only one.
But it seems as if the reason for Mischa’s behavior was substance abuse combined with mental health issues. Today she’s still working as an actress, albeit mostly in bad, low budget thrillers, but her bad rumors and behavior seem to be behind her.
