[post_page_title]Fusing the wax[/post_page_title]
The wax model of the ring had to be attached to a base so the jeweler could make a cast of it. He wasn’t just going to pour molten gold over the wax recreation otherwise it would simply melt away, and he’d be left with nothing more than a blob of metal.
The wax model had to be fixed to a base using a wax pen. This pen melts the wax, allowing it to be attached to something solid, otherwise known as being ‘sprued up’ in the jewelry-making business.
