The best course of action for both the jeweler and the guy filled with regret was to melt the ring down and aim to replicate it. The simple thing to do at this stage would have been to melt the ring down to the base metal once again, and then just roll it out into shape.
That wasn’t good enough for the jeweler though, and they wanted to make sure the ring was identical to the original ring. The original gold was going to be used, now all the jeweler needed to do was come up with a design.
