Diana herself had experience with divorce, experiencing the separation of her own parents, so her main focus on bringing up her own kids was to create for them an environment that was centered around love, security, and being cared for.

In addition, she was insistent that her children would not be stuck-up royal prats, so instilled within them from a very young age the importance and value of creating connections with people who they may not be so accustomed to interacting with.
