While the world was falling in love with his bold creations, Versace found himself inspired by an apartment building in Miami called Amsterdam Palace.
Versace saw that the building needed to transform into the famous mansion that it is today, also known as Casa Casuarina. Versace bought this historic building in 1992 for $2.95 million and spent three years turning it into a piece of art. In 1997, Versace was tragically killed in a home that he loved.
