In 2018, the television network FX premiered the show “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.” In the show, Gianni was depicted by actor Edgar Ramirez while Donatella was depicted by movie star Penelope Cruz.
The star-studded cast was also made up of actor and theater star Darren Criss and Spanish pop star Ricky Martin. While the show was received well by fans, the Versace family criticized the show saying they “neither authorized nor had any involvement” in the show.
