Believe it or not, Tate Donovan was actually Jennifer Aniston’s first serious boyfriend. They were introduced by mutual friends and liked each other right away.
But ‘Friends’ was at the height of its popularity at that point, and Donovan found it difficult to deal with the constant media attention. They made it work for three years, but called it quits in 1998. It wasn’t easy, though, since the actors still had to work with each other for 6 episodes of ‘Friends’ that Donovan had already committed to.

Apparently, the magic was there right from the beginning when Matt Dillon and Cameron Diaz met in 1996 In fact, he referred to her as his first love in an interview with Parade magazine, stating, “Cameron was a muse for me. I hadn’t been in any deep emotional relationships.”
Although he’s hinted that their breakup in 1998 was due to her fear of commitment, he still credits her as the one who made him “open to life now, even to marriage.”
