Some foods make the perfect snack for children. Animal crackers? Both adorable and tasty. Pureed peas? Maybe not so yummy, but definitely nutritious. But you know what probably doesn’t make a very balanced meal for your little one? A foam football.

Sadly, as much as this parent tried to explain that their toy wasn’t a treat, their son wasn’t going to listen. He didn’t want a handful of cookies or some peas, he wanted that football and nothing else would satisfy his hunger.

Kids aren’t exactly known for their refined palates. For the first few months of their lives, they’re pretty much content to live off a steady diet of milk or formula. Then, as a parent, you’ll slowly start to introduce solid foods to them.

In turn, they’ll let you know what they enjoy eating and what they’re not so fond of. Pureed bananas may get a smile, while carrots may earn you a yuck face. This child, though, had an appetite for something a little bit different, and had to be told that dirt wasn’t on the menu tonight.
