The Bahamian-American actor and director Sidney Poitier was most well known for his films between the 1960s to 1980s. He also served as the ambassador to Japan for the Bahamas.
However, due to his dual citizenship and him being born in the United States, he enlisted in the United States Army back in 1943 during the Second World War, despite him being only 16 at that time. He faked a mental complication and his psychiatrist, who sympathized with him, granted him a discharge from the army.
