Most well known for his role as police officers and other civil roles in movies, Charles Bronson has also experienced these kinds of settings in person as well. Bronson enlisted in the air force in 1943 during the Second World War, where he was based in Guam and served in the Pacific Theatre.

He was an aerial gunner conducting missions against the Japanese on the Home Islands, flying 25 missions in total. After the war, he received a purple heart award and worked multiple odd jobs before pursuing a career in the film industry.
