We are pretty certain that most of us would have watched the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when we were younger. That “Willy Wonka” is none other than actor Gene Wilder.

A year after he graduated from the University of Iowa, Wilder was drafted into the United States Army in 1956, where he served as a member of the medical corps. He was then discharged in 1958, where he went back to New York and became a full time student. Subsequently, he went on to pursue a career in acting.
