Having acted in several movies from the 1950s all the way up till the 1970s, Charlton Heston was also an activist in politics of the United States. He was also the president of the National Rifle Association for five years between 1998 to 2003.
In his early years, Heston enlisted in the air force in 1944 during the Second World War, where he was stationed in Alaska. His service in the air force achieved him the rank of staff sergeant. He continues to play a role in the military, narrating for classified films.
