In 1989, Cher released If I Could Turn Back Time, which became a worldwide hit. The video was shot aboard the USS Missouri, which had been commissioned for war. She had allegedly been under instruction not to dress provocatively, but she disregarded those instructions, and came out in a skimpy outfit.
MTV considered the music video too risqué they would only play it after 9 pm. In the video, servicemen appear jolly, but her outfit didn’t sit well with the commanders.
