One episode walks us through the thoroughly depressing rehearsal for Charles and Diana’s wedding, with the Prince not appearing to even fake any affection for his future wife. The only one who seems to notice is Princess Margaret, who confronts the Queen and Prince Philip and angrily objects to the union.
This is artistic liberty, but not by the writers. Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Margaret, thought it wouldn’t make sense for the Princess to not speak up after she herself was forced to break up with the love of her life.
