[post_page_title]Fact check: Queen Elizabeth’s secret cousins[/post_page_title]
The Crown makes an explosive claim – in the midst of her own personal crisis, Princess Margaret discovers she has two first cousins who were secretly admitted to an asylum and declared deceased. This, unfortunately, is quite true. Nerissa and Katherine Bowes-Lyon were the Queen’s (and Margaret’s) cousins.

At the time, children with disabilities were considered shameful, especially for the Royal Family, so they were locked away. Sadly, the real Margaret apparently never showed an interest in them. Nevertheless, care workers at the asylum alleged that whenever the royals appeared on TV, Nerissa and Katherine would stand up and curtsy.
