One episode focuses not on any royal, but on unemployed laborer Michael Fagan. The Crown depicts what was probably the worst security breach in Royal Family history, showing Fagan breaking into Buckingham Palace and managing to enter the Queen’s own bedroom, where he chats with her for ten minutes.
The break-in definitely occurred. What’s doubtful is whether the two actually spoke. By Fagan’s own account, Elizabeth ran out the moment she saw him. Also, the show casts him as a representation of the Thatcher-era downtrodden, but in reality he may simply have been distraught over his wife leaving him.
