[post_page_title]Fact check: The Queen effectively ending Princess Margaret’s royal duties[/post_page_title]
Part of what makes The Crown such a riveting watch is that there’s often a grain of truth to the happenings on-screen – they’re just blown out of proportion for dramatic effect. For example, one episode has the Queen and her private secretary Sir Martin Charteris informing Princess Margaret that she’ll essentially be stripped of her royal duties, as Prince Edward had come of age.

While it’s true that Margaret was replaced by Edward in the specific position of Counsellor of State, she maintained her very busy schedule and various other positions and responsibilities until her passing in 2002.
