Even though the Charles-Diana dynamic is clearly season four’s focus, its true star is Erin Doherty as Princess Anne. In one episode, Anne just unloads on Diana to the Queen. “Lovely her, dumpy me,” she grumbles. “Smiling her, grumpy me. Charming her, awful me.”
Anne, it seems, was resentful of the fact that her own hard work has been going unnoticed while Diana made headlines for simply wearing new clothes. This account seems to be highly factual, as one expert said Anne “had no time” for Diana and didn’t like the way she used the media to promote herself.
