The Crown does a good job of highlighting Diana’s loneliness and isolation in the early days of her relationship with Prince Charles. One scene seems especially poignant, as Diana, still in her teens, dons roller-skates and listens to Duran Duran as she glides through Buckingham Palace’s deserted halls.
There’s no concrete evidence this ever happened, though Emma Corrin (who plays Diana) is convinced that it did. We do know Diana rollerbladed in Kensington Gardens, and The Crown’s producers claimed she used to ride a bicycle through the Palace, which she did indeed find a place of “dead energy.”
