Despite an entire episode being dedicated to Charles and Diana’s fateful tour of Australia, one especially heart-wrenching moment was for some reason left out of The Crown’s narrative. On one of their walkabouts near the Sydney Opera House, Diana was photographed openly weeping, while Charles completely ignored her.
If he had noticed, the royal photographer who snapped the photo theorized, he intentionally looked the other way. The photographer went on to say a royal press officer told him it was just “jet lag and heat,” but he insisted it was the first sign the marriage wasn’t working.
