The second of Diana’s reported affairs doesn’t even merit a mention by name. In their aforementioned talk, Princess Anne spills some tea to the Queen about Diana’s alleged affair with one of her bodyguards. The bodyguard in question is Barry Mannakee, and The Crown again severely downplays the relationship.
Their affair was cut short when Mannakee was transferred out of her security detail when the Palace became suspicious, and he passed away in a motorcycle accident just two years later. Diana described his passing as the “biggest blow of my life,” and suggested foul play was involved.
