“In and out, in and out” – in one of season four’s only anti-Diana moments, Princess Anne regales the Queen with tales of Diana’s many indiscretions. Despite the attention Charles’s relationship with Camilla gets, Diana’s affairs are more low-key. In episode nine, we meet Captain James Hewitt for the first time.
Initially Diana’s riding instructor, the two embarked on an affair that The Crown actually downplayed! We only catch a glimpse of Hewitt, and of Diana sneaking him into Kensington Palace. The five-year affair was much more serious, however, and Diana even let him into Highgrove, Charles’s private residence.
