Diana’s introduction into the Royal Family is a little like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, only without the laughs. Portrayed as a fish-out-of-water, Diana’s shown bungling curtseys and soundly mocked by Princess Margaret. There’s simply no way this happened.
While technically a commoner, Diana came from a centuries’ old aristocratic family and six of her relatives served in the Queen Mother’s household. Heck, her father worked for the Queen and her childhood playmates were Prince Andrew and Prince Edward! Diana would never have bungled royal protocol, nor was her grandmother the punishing taskmaster that The Crown makes her out to be.
